Nottingham Trent University to deliver Data Science Degree Apprenticeships for Santander

Nottingham Trent University is to design and teach a bespoke data science degree for existing Santander staff.

The university was selected as the bank’s Data Science Degree Apprenticeship partner following a rigorous tender process.

The course, which will begin in April 2021, will incorporate mathematics-based modules, including data analysis, machine learning, problem solving and artificial intelligence.

It builds on the existing apprenticeship provision NTU provides for Santander. In 2019, the university was selected as Santander’s apprenticeship partner to deliver a Digital and Technology Solutions degree.

NTU and Santander have been working in partnership since 2012. The university is a member of the Santander Universities Network, which supports the bank’s commitment to higher education.

The University and Santander work together to provide a wide range of opportunities for NTU students and graduates, including scholarships, grants and internships.

Professor Edward Peck, Vice-Chancellor of Nottingham Trent University, said: “We are delighted to have built on this relationship and extended our apprenticeships provision with Santander. This further demonstrates the strength of our apprenticeships offer here at NTU and we are very much looking forward to welcoming more Santander apprentices onto our campuses.”

Anouska Ramsey, Director of Culture and Capability at Santander, said: “Our partnership with NTU allows us to successfully upskill our colleagues in future technologies, which is central to our people strategy and the learning culture at Santander.”
